6. API Fundamentals & REST Testing

  • HTTP fundamentals- methods (GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE), status codes & headers
  • REST architecture: resources, URIs, statelessness & JSON/XML payloads
  • Postman: collections, environments, variables, pre-request scripts & test scripts
  • API test cases: positive, negative, boundary & security scenarios
  • Authentication testing: API keys, Basic Auth, Bearer tokens & OAuth 2.0

7. Database & SQL for Testers

  • Relational databases: tables, relationships, primary & foreign keys
  • SQL for QA: SELECT, WHERE, JOIN, GROUP BY & ORDER BY for data validation
  • Data integrity testing: checking constraints, null handling & referential integrity
  • Backend validation: comparing UI data to database records
  • Using DBeaver & MySQL Workbench for test data setup & result verification

8. Programming for QA- Python/Java Basics

  • Variables, data types, operators & control flow (if/else, loops)
  • Functions, parameters, return values & basic OOP concepts
  • Working with strings, lists, dictionaries & file I/O
  • Exception handling: try/except and graceful error recovery in test scripts
  • Python or Java: choosing the right language for your team & project

9. Selenium WebDriver- Web UI Automation

  • Selenium architecture: WebDriver, browser drivers (ChromeDriver, GeckoDriver)
  • Locator strategies: ID, name, class, XPath, CSS selectors & best practices
  • WebDriver actions: click, type, select, hover, drag-and-drop & file upload
  • Synchronisation: implicit waits, explicit waits (WebDriverWait) & FluentWait
  • Page Object Model (POM): designing maintainable, reusable test structures

10. TestNG / pytest- Test Framework Essentials

  • pytest fundamentals- fixtures, conftest.py, markers, parametrize & plugins
  • TestNG annotations- @Test, @BeforeMethod, @AfterClass, data providers & listeners
  • Assertions- hard vs soft assertions, custom messages & assertion libraries
  • Test grouping, filtering & parallel execution for faster feedback loops
  • HTML report generation: Allure, ExtentReports & pytest-html
